Kvarteto 'PostScriptum'

 PSQG

The String Quartet ‘Post Scriptum’ (Sonya Suldina and Victor Ivanov, violins, Dmitri Glushenko, cello, and Konstantin Kulyeba , viola) was formed in May 2006 , making its debut in September of that year in with concerts in  Kiev, Lviv, Kharkiv and Chernivtsi. In 2007, the quartet undertook a series of concerts including the music of Sibleius, Elgar, Schubert, Barber, Shostakovich, Telemann, Handel, Pleyel, Mozart and Reger, and two concerts (in Kiev and Lviv) celebrating the 70th birthday of the renowned Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov, with whom they closely cooperate. In the period 2008-10 the Quartet has featured at the concert series "Musical Culture of Europe" at the Kiev Philharmonia, playing music of  Finland, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Austria, Great Britain, as well as the European Romantic composers. In August of 2008 and 2009 the Quartet participated with great success in the famous ‘Zeist Music Days’ in the Netherlands.

“…The very name of the quartet – Post Scriptum – seems in contradiction to the youth of the musicians. Obviously in the name there is some hint of what this group seeks to undertake. It suggests that we have already said everything, but still something is missing - that is, until the postscript is evident, the full point will not be revealed…. Post Scriptum is a very vivid ensemble, lively not only in its technical mastery, but also in its innovative and unconventional programmes, in which important issues are always being discussed and resolved. The musicians are always seeking to communicate, motivated from the start by faith in their music and love for it.... For an aeon the world has been obsessed with triviality; and thus a single-minded group devoted to music, such as Quartet Post Scriptum, which listens and finds, and clearly undertakes a cultural mission, seems, alas, a lone envoy conveying spirituality and beauty from a distant past…”
From an interview with the composer Valentin Silvestrov, 23 November 2008.

In their debut concert in Slovakia,  the Quartet will perform works by Tchaikovsky, Silvestrov and Schubert (his quartet 'Death and the Maiden'). On the following evening they will be joined by Jonathan Powell in performances of the piano quintets of Bax and Elgar.
