Olivier Benichou studied flute with Sophie Cherrier at the
CNR of Paris, where he was awarded a gold medal. He has further studied with
Alain Marion and Benoit Fromanger. Attracted from early on by historic
instruments, he studied baroque flute at the Paris Conservatoire in the class
of Peter Sechet, and obtained a first prize playing the flauto traverso aswell
as a first prize in chamber music. Amongst the early music consorts he has
worked with are the Akademie fur Alte Musik Berlin, Les Musiciens du Louvre
under the direction of Marc Minkowski, Le Concert d'Astrée under the direction
of Emmanuelle Haim, Gli Incognita with Amandine Beyer, Ensemble Matheus with
Jean-Christophe Spinosi, the Grande Ecurie and the Chambre du Roy with
Jean-Claude Malgoire, and the Cercle de l'Harmonie with Jeremie Rhorer. On
the modern flute Olivier Benichou has also played with the Opera Orchestra of
Lyon, the Chamber Orchestra of the Auvergne, the Chamber Orchestra of Athens,
the Concerts Lamoureux Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Grenoble.
